1st CALL FOR PAPERS 3rd European Conference on Argumentation – ECA 2019

Monday, June 24 – Thursday, June 27 2019, Groningen, The Netherlands

The European Conference on Argumentation (ECA) is a pan-European biennial initiative aiming to consolidate and advance research on argumentation. After two successful editions, in Lisbon in 2015 and in Fribourg in 2017, ECA will be hosted in 2019 by the University of Groningen, in Groningen, The Netherlands.

We aim to attract scholars on argumentation world-wide from various disciplines, dealing with various themes and adopting various approaches.

M-Phi: Summer Schools on Epistemology and Cognition in Groningen

In the last week of August 2014 (25 to 29), the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Groningen will be hosting TWO co-located summer schools with a common theme, Epistemology and Cognition. One of them will focus on contemporary debates on these topics, while the other will adopt a historical perspective. Below is is the lineup of keynote speakers (common to both summer schools) and tutorials for each of them.

PhD positions Forensic Science (2,0 fte)

Job description

These two PhD positions are part of the project “Designing and
Understanding Forensic Bayesian Networks with Arguments and Scenarios”
that is funded by the Netherlands Institute for Scientific Research in
the Forensic Science program (www.nwo.nl/forensicscience). The project
is a cooperation of the University of Groningen (Department of
Artificial Intelligence) and Utrecht University (Department of
Information and Computing Sciences) supported by partners from
